Toronto Designers Compensated by DVF

Toronto Star reports that Toronto designers Jennifer Halchuk and Richard Lyle received compensation from the DVF label for what was deemed a copy of their jacket from their Mercy line.  Article here:

It’s nice to read about a designer trying to right a wrong when it comes to copying designs.  But what do you think?  Can clothing designs really be protected?
